I am still trying to talk Bella into an all pink Christmas. So far, she is not buying it. Oh well. I will be adding the final touches to a birdhouse for a lovely patient blog winner and working on a website revamp for a new friend. What are your weekend plans?

Here we are already in November. We went from 80's to 40's... HOLY COW! Speaking of cows

I love these and have several. Are they no longer making new ones? So, today there is a local Open Studios of artists... where you can go check them out in action. I would love to have participated but since you can't even get in my studio  - I think it better wait. Haha. So, it is off to the studio I go to clean. Happy Pink Saturday and Halloween Eve!

Well somehow October has totally flown by. What the banana? I had started with Bella's costume early - got the pattern and fabric and well now here it is and how am I going to crank it out? I hope it will turn out ok since I have self taught basic sewing skills. I really should learn not to mention clean out my studio so I can get in there.

My pink is some of the flowers in one of our beds. They remind me of some earbobs my Grandmother used to wear. You know the clip kind that would squeeze your ear. Loved dressing  up in those when I went to visit. I would layer all her beads on and walk around her house with them. Guess it that is why I always must accessorize.

Five Years Later

This is my dog Chanel. (Bella decided she needed to dress up for the picture that day.) She was our first dog. She joined Los and I on our 2nd anniversary and we had the pleasure of being loved by her for 11 years! She was a wonderful dog and the best friend. She ate a few of Carlos' shirts (he left gum in the pocket), chewed a few of my shoes, ate Bella's crayons, loved perfume, sat in a chair like a person, could say hohoho and was there for me always!

She got lung cancer and pasted very quickly five years ago. She is loved everyday, missed everyday and will be thought of everyday!

Holy cow! We went from 90's to 70's with lows in the 40's. Which means I can finally get the birdhouse finished for a dear winner waiting. :-) The garage studio will not be a million degrees. I am pretty excited about being able to fire the kiln and not worry about melting the paint of my Mini.

No shows for the artchics today. My little artchic made Middle School All County Orchestra and there is a performance today. Way to go Bella!

Last weekend we won 2nd place in booth design and it is only our second festival. We are so excited. Today we will be doing a trunk show at a local golf clubhouse. Hope the weather stays great.

Hello little neglected blog. I so hope to do better. Lots have been going on here at the artchics headquarters. We did our first 2 day festival last weekend. Here are the photos of our yummy booth and pretties we had.

Time flies

Ok. Where did the summer go? Wow. Bella started school today and so back to a little normalness and not wanting to lounge on the couch all day. We have had such hot weather here it has been a dilemma in the outside studio where I was working on the bird house for Donna. The premixed grout and I are not loving each other. It was a bear to get out and then when it dried, some of it cracked. So, I have decided to wait until cooler temps when I don't melt in there to try and work with it. I must remember to look for an air conditioner when they go on sale at the end of the season.

We took a trip down to the coast. It was delightful. Not as many shells as I had hoped, but did find a few. My swap package is finally on it's way to Tammy. Of course, I will wait until she gets it and takes some pictures for me to post since I forgot to snap them before packing it.

Working on the studio declutter. Wow that is a giant mess and undertaking. Also, working on some new scarfs and jewelry. Hoping the weekend will be cooler so I can fire up the kiln and amybe finish the birdhouse.

Holy Heat Wave!

Hope everyone had a wonderful holiday weekend. We are having higher than normal temps here in the South. The kind that make you want to stay in and sip iced tea, sit by the AC and think of all the things you should be doing but have no energy because of the heat.

So, on a what am I gone do with all this note… I have a ton of french paperbacks and french classic/other albums. Anyone interested? Got any ideas for good uses? I was hoping not to have to list each individual one since there are so many but I am thinking $1 paperback, $2 album plus shipping. I want to make some bowls out of a few and will be listing those in my etsy shop. I think it will be so hot outside this week, I could let mother nature do it for me and not have to even turn the oven or kiln on.

Sorry for the delay. Things were a bit out of whack lately. Bella finished up 6th grade. Both stray puppies found wonderful new homes. My birthday month ended. June started and was not looking very positive. My friend's little boy's cancer has returned (treatment is working) and my 91 year old Grandmother passed away.

Happier  thoughts my friend completed her first marathon this past weekend. Way to go Brigette. I made her a mini banner but of course forgot to get a picture. I will have more mini banners in my etsy shop this week. I am trying to decide if I want to complete them or have them as kits. Any ideas?

Happy Memorial Day!

Thank you to all the men and women who serve and have served to protect our country.

I had hoped we could have a nice bbq picnic outside and play some lawn games, but the weather is not cooperating. So it looks like we will have to have a plan b. Maybe hubby can still grill, we can eat on porch and play a board game inside.

Birthday month is finally coming to a close. I had a great one know 11 months to go and we can do it again. Make sure you leave a comment before June 3 to be entered in my drawing.

Finally, my actual Birthday in my month long Birthday Celebration!! Hope everyone is had a wonderful May. Mother's Day, school wrapping up, warm weather, pools and last night thunderstorms. Storms I can do with out, but the rest are pretty great. Our foster puppy, Cooper joined his new family on Friday! So happy for them. Minnie will have a wonderful new home next Saturday. They have come along way and I am very proud of them!

Whoohoo Birthday Month continues... Happy May!!! Hope everyone is having a wonderful weekend. The rescued puppies are doing great. I hope to have a home for them both mid June. It is sad to think people would just lets pups out to starve.

Wonderful Wednesday

Welcome to the new followers and thank you to all for hanging with me. Remember there will be a give-away on my Birthday Day the 29th!

This week has flown by. Here it is already the 12th day of my birthday month. Lots to share. I started my garden. I built the box, added the soil (which I mixed), added the plants and then the pine needles. Now to watch it grow. I have a few other things to plant today and will share those tomorrow.

My garden has a row of gourds (love those and want to make bird houses out of them), next row tomatoes, peppers and then garden beans (not sure what they are, but they looked cool). I have cucumbers to put somewhere else and watermelons. A few herbs that are not looking very good also need to find a good planting spot.

We have a new tree in our front yard. Thanks to hubs for digging in the wonderful clay soil here. I think I got the better end of the deal by building a raised bed. Off to planting I go. All the photos were taken by fuzzy snails. She is becoming quite the little photographer. Happy planting and creating day!

Thrifty Thursday

Happy 6th day of my birthday month. I have been a little side tracked lately. Monday was spent rescuing these two sweet little pups.

They are very hungry - yet very loving. I have had them groomed and shots will be given on Saturday. They are eating small meals and doing very well. They are looking for a loving home - so if you are in my area and want them or know of someone shoot me an email.

I have come across a ton of paper & hard back books that are in french and english. They are very old and would be wonderful in art. Send me an email if you are interested in some - they are going to be very cheap and listed on my etsy.

Paperbacks are $1 each and hardback $1.50 plus media mail shipping. If you want several I can ship in flat rate boxes or media which ever is least expensive for you. Just shoot an email.

It is a very wet start to our week here. But hey, it is my birthday month, so I will not complain.

A couple of years ago I built a birdhouse out of a cigar box. We have finches that love to build on our lights on our front porch. Well, they did not move in the cigar box and have since built yet another nest on the light. Yes, we bought new lights that would not be buildable, but did not get them up in time. Well someone else has decided to move into the cigar birdhouse and when I peeked in today here is what I saw...

Guess someone else wants to spend my birthday month with me. Yeah! I think I shall name her Daisy. Looks like I might have to come up with 3 more names. I will keep you posted on their arrival.

Day 2- I went to find the Artful Blogging magazine at BAM and well... they had every other Somerset but that one. Looks like a trip to B&N is in the near future. Hope everyone is enjoying their issue. I hope to have mine on day 3 of my birthday month.

We set up the aquarium with new rocks and a new pink plant. This is where George & Ringo the fancy guppies live along with Ernest Hemingway the frog. Yes, there is a plan to get John & Paul for the tank as well.

Swap Season

I joined this wonderful swap over at the lovely Sarah's  Gypsy Mermaid blog! I am so excited I love the seaside! I have been daydreaming about it for months - ok years really. So, it is off to the mess studio to get cranking. I can't wait to see what everyone comes up with!

Here it is... my very own made beach glass. I love it! Only trouble my brand new tumbler belt broke after 3 days of tumbling. So, I went and got a new belt. Guess what?! You got it, it broke after 12 hours. Trip back to the store with box and everything will be happening this week.

Garden update ~ I made the square frame for my garden. Off to Home Depot to figure out how much soil I need. We have clay, so hubby thinks I need to dig out some since the plants would only have 3 inches to root in. It is supposed to rain tomorrow so at least I would not need a jack hammer. I am excited to be going to the plant sale this weekend at the Botanical Garden. Yeah. Maybe it will help with some ideas as well.

Wow! Where have I been?

I would love to say that I have been busy with wonderful and creative stuff in my time away, but that has not been the case. Truth is, I have been cluttered with the boring. You know taxes, laundry, dishwasher, more laundry and just the normal every day life ditties. No real progress has been made anywhere. I did get a few seeds planted for the garden. Now, if I only had a garden. There is so much to do and some days I wonder will anything ever get done and then I think if one thing does it is better than nothing. I shall go make my to do list and make sure I put one thing I can get done.

I did start the tumbler yesterday with some broken glass in it to make some beach glass. I so wish I was at the beach. I would love to listen to the waves. I think I could sit there for days, except for the trips walking to find treasures. We go on a family beach trip every year and right now I am looking forward to that and think it can't get here fast enough.

Make sure if you only do one thing on your to do list - it is to make your loved feel special and know they are loved! So many times we are busy with life we forget the small things that are the most important! I know I have, but vow every day to make that a priority (the laundry can wait)!

I can't wait until Spring. But really another snow storm before it gets here. At least it would give me extra time in my studio. Teehee.  Not much progress to report since I am working on what feels like 20 projects at once. I think my ADD and OCD (neither confirmed by a doctor) :-) are at battle again.  One day everything will have it's place or a nice new home to go to.

Sunny, chilly & a studio mess

The sun is a beautiful sunny day, however a bit chilly. I have been inspired to clean out my istudio! I love warm weather and being able to open the windows! Well, I must say right now I can't even get to the window to open them. The floor is not even showing in many places. How and why do I have so much stuff? I think it is time to tackle it. So starting today one section at a time, it will be conquered. The desk pictures I showed the last month are only the beginning. Any one else out there ready to take on the studio clean up? I will be having a give-away this week in honor of my 100th post. Trouble is I have to clean up my desk to make my surprise. Here is where I am going. Wish me luck! Happy Hump Day!

Guess what? This is my 100th post and I lost 4 lbs last week. I think we should celebrate. Keep in touch and see what I have in store for celebration.

So, back to Weightloss Wednesday. I have stayed with WW and just really watching what I eat. I have cut out the sodas except for the ginger ale needed during a stomach bug. I really enjoy alot of the foods that are low in points. Water intake is still good. Please stop by Jennifer's blog and see the rest of the people.

Spring Come On Down

It is fairly certain we all agree we are ready for Spring. I am glad I live in the South and am not buried in snow. I would so not know how to deal with it. We have had very cold and wind here today.

My sweet blog friend Jennifer is having another installment of Weightloss Wednesday. I happyto report 3lbs. gone and I have kicked my sweet tea habit. I have started with unsweet and although it is no where near my favorite I can now tolerate it. Still drinking my water, counting my points and walking on the treadmill every day. Simple yet doable lifestyle changes as well. If you are interested sign up and check out everyone's progress.

What a beautiful sunny day it is here. I can't wait until Spring. For Weightloss Wednesday my report is I started keeping track of my WW points this week and so far so good. I did try the Jillian DVD and all I can say is WOW.  I like the fact it is only 20 minutes long. I have been walking every day on our treadmill for at least 1 mile and most days 2.

 

Today's show and tell is the blog header for Rose. She has fabulous crocheted items, cutest die cuts and more. I have decided to expand into another etsy shop for Mingo Designs where you can order affordable graphic/web design. If you or anyone you know are looking please let me know.

New Month ~ New Item

Happy February. This is the newest 4x6 print I am listing in my Art Fire and Etsy shops. I think I have set some doable goals for myself for the month of February. My main goal is to grow both shops ~ each day something new will be added. I would love to hear which place works better for you and how you promote yourself.

We had rainy weather today so I will have photos of tomorrows item then. I am only 2 posts away from 100. Yeah! How shall we celebrate?

This is a new item listed in the arthcics shops.  The photo is one of my roses. The photo is a professionally printed 4x6 print. Stay tuned for more new goodies to come. Four more post until my 100 Blog Post Anniversary. Oh what shall I do?

Eat In Month update * Failed horribly* It did make me realize I don't like cooking. I don't have a well stocked pantry. I am not the best at planning meals or remembering to take snacks with us when we go out. I did very good for one week. Maybe I can work my way up to a month. :-)

Frosty Temps Warming

Whohoo this week is going to be in the 50's. Still below my comfort of 68 but better than 17. I would never make it in a real cold weather climate. We rarely get snow and the picture is from a couple of years age when we had a little blast of it. I like to watch it fall and go out in it for about 15 minutes and then I am done. With snow here we usually get power outages.

This weekend was not so good on the Eat In Month Challenge. Went out with family visiting from out of town. Still very happy with my accomplishments.

Happy Saturday

Looking outside from my window is looks like such a lovely day. But, I know that it is tricking me into thinking it is nice and warm - not the case. It is cold out!

Today, we have company coming and since there will be 7 of us dinner out is planned. So, there is my one free pass that I will be using. I am still very happy with my success. It has really not been that hard if I stop and think about it.

This is my desk. I must get it cleaned off to be able to work. That is how I will be spending my weekend. You?

Happy Hump Day!

Still getting back into the routine of things and kicking the Bronchitis. I can say with it I have added a lot of water and that is good for Weight Loss Wednesday. The constant cough is becoming a pain. Once the crud is gone I will be adding an indoor exercise, since it is too cold out. Any suggestions? What is your fav exercise dvd?

Eat In Month Challenge is still going well. However, will be hitting a screaming halt on Monday when I meet up with my friend to discuss names for her new idea. Since I am freelance breakfast and lunch places are where I hold my meetings. I am still very pleased at how well it is going. Carrying lunch is not bad if you have a cute bag to carry it in.

Well Hello Normal

Today, was the first day back for school. (Hence the painting from the wall downtown of a school of fish) Which meant some really early get up times. I must say I am more of a night owl than an early bird. Not to mention it was 16 degrees when I drove Bella to school. Holy cow! Thank goodness Minnie the Mini fits in the garage and has fab heated seats.

I can proudly say I have made it through day 5 of the Eat In Month Challenge. Tonight, I made the Mandarin Chicken Apron meal idea from Publix. It was pretty easy and tasted pretty good. (Forgot the camera)! I am excited about going and getting the $5 Dinner Cookbook this week. I love her blog and hope she has some easy, inexpensive recipe ideas. I must say we had a lot of spices, but had none of the ones for the meal. Now we do, so when I see a dish on Rachel Ray I can consider it.

Back to Normal

Our holiday vacation is finally over. :-( I enjoy having someone here with me every day other than the furries. All though they are loveable, I have not been able to get the to carry on a conversation.

Eat In Month Challenge is going to be very difficult. Forgot we had to run out today and where behind in meals so Bella had to have take out. Hubby doesn't like carrying his lunch to work, so the only one still in is me. Which is what I figured. It is a great challenge, but may prove to be impossible. I will be happy with just a drastic cut down in dining out. Tuesday night we are having the Apron Meal Idea from Publix. Never go on Monday when you are hungry. :-) Bella has decided it looked good and she is willing to try it. I hope to have that and something pretty to share with you!

Welcome New Year!

This year started with a challenge from my blog friend Diana. So far day 1 was a check! Here was the brunch I fixed myself and hubby - little artchic prefers scrambled eggs.

We have a lot of eggs I forgot about in the garage fridge so I made this tasty little omelet. Last Christmas Walgreen's had a great deal on little kitchen appliances. So I grabbed this omelet maker, not wanting to spend a lot on it in case I did not like it. Well, I must say it makes a pretty good little omelet and when it no longer works will be replaced with a nicer one. (This one was only $5.)

I started my list and decided I probably will continue to add to it. It has the basics: eat healthier, save money, get more exercise and so forth. I will share the rest as I go along. I am still trying very hard to kick the crud. I do not like being under the weather!

So now I am off to slowly de-holiday-ize the house. Next stop the fireplaces. It may take me all week, since I am trying not to over do. That and I start making some flowers I want to finish. :-) Happy Day 2 of 2010!
